Enterprise Service Bus?

Unlike so many others, I've never caught the SOA fever. I gather its probably due to a lack of an understanding of the concept, or maybe it's just another fad as EJB's to a large extent proved to be. With a slightly biased mind, i was looking forward to watching the presentation entitled "Does My Bus Look Big in This?" by Martin Fowler and Dr. Jim Webber on InfoQ.

Watch it, you won't regret it! While containing lots of experiences accounting for life in SOA land, it is more than anything entertaining. For me the best part was Jim's comment 10:25 to 11:10 in the presentation. He said:

ESB's are cool [...] because they got rectangles in them. They are really straight lined, and look like they can scale because you can drag them that wide in power point [...] all your enterprise worries are over.
[...] Except. I think it's just errorneus spaghetti-bus, because you take all your complicated business logic that was in your enterprise architecture, and you drop it inside someone else's propriatory framework. And then you are forced to say "don't look here.. it's all good.. don't look in the box!"
That is just so spot on! Have fun watching the presentation! :-) How big is your enterprise service bus? :-)
